A real example

From a crayon rooster to 389 bricks

The drawing became a 3D model in Drawing mode; the brick set maker rebuilt it with its default settings: medium size, full colours, hollow inside.

How it works

A brick set in three steps

  1. A 3D model on the Wandy3D workspace stage, with Make it real among its actions

    Make or open a model

Generate one from a photo, a drawing or a sentence — or open any model in your library and choose Make it real.

  2. The Make it real dialog with the brick set settings

    Choose the size and colours

Small, medium or large; full colours or a basic palette of the easiest bricks to find; hollow inside saves bricks.

  3. A layer step from the rooster's instructions

    Get the parts and build

Order the parts with the wanted list or use your own, then build one layer per step from the bottom up.

Only standard 1-high bricks, from 1 × 1 up to 2 × 8, in common colours — no special pieces. Part and colour numbers follow the LDraw / BrickLink catalogue.

It depends on the size and the shape: the rooster at medium size is 389 bricks of 70 kinds. Hollow inside saves bricks; the bottom layer stays solid.

Upload the included wanted list to BrickLink to order exactly these parts from its sellers, or use bricks you already have. Bricks hidden inside the model can be any colour.

Mostly on its own. A few bricks can have nothing below them yet — the rooster has 3. They are outlined red in the instructions: add a drop of glue or prop them up until the next layer locks them in.

Yes — it's one layer per page, like any building set. Younger builders may need help finding the right bricks, and small parts are a choking hazard for children under 3.

Yes: you may use your models and what you make from them commercially — see section 4.2 of the Terms of Service. You need the rights to the photo or drawing you started from.
