AI 3D generators for game assets, compared

A generated model is only the start of a game asset: it needs a skeleton, a polygon budget, levels of detail, collision and a file your engine imports. Here is how Wandy3D, Meshy and Tripo handle each step, what they cost on the web and through an API, and who owns the result — every cell links to the page we read it on.

We make Wandy3D. Where the other tools are better or cheaper, this page says so.

In short

  • Need engine plugins or a big animation library? Meshy and Tripo have both.
  • Need LODs, collision and an exact triangle budget, packed for your engine? That is what Wandy3D's game tools do.
  • Calling an API at scale? Tripo's API and fal cost less per textured model than Wandy 2; Wandy 1 is the cheapest of all.

Honestly

Where the others are better

Worth knowing before you choose.

  • Free downloads

Meshy (10 Lite models a month) and Tripo (15 exports a month) let free users download; on Wandy3D the files need a plan or a $1.99 unlock.231

  • Engine plugins

Meshy and Tripo send models straight into Unity, Unreal, Blender, Godot and more on paid plans. Wandy3D has no plugins yet: you download files.23

  • A bigger animation library

Meshy offers 500+ motions on paid plans. Wandy3D has 34 ready clips for humanoid rigs, plus clips you describe in words.24

  • Higher texture ceiling

Tripo (unlimited on Max) and Meshy (through the API) go up to 8K textures; Wandy3D stops at 4K.371

  • Bring your own model

Meshy textures models you upload and Tripo's API imports them; Wandy3D's tools work only on models made in Wandy3D.284

  • Cheaper per API call than Wandy 2

    Tripo's own API and fal charge $0.30 for a textured model; Wandy 2 is $0.45 (Wandy 1.1 $0.30, Wandy 1 $0.075).118129

Wandy3D

What Wandy3D does differently

  • A pack per engine

LOD0–LOD3 and convex collision with the real-world size and the pivot at the bottom centre: Unity FBX with a LOD Group, Unreal FBX in centimetres with UCX collision, Godot GLB with collision shapes.4

  • An exact polygon budget

Low Poly cuts a model to the triangle count you pick, 300–300,000, as a closed mesh with the textures baked on; quad remesh gives 500–100,000 faces.4

  • Motion from a sentence

Describe a move and a humanoid rig gets it as a new 2–10 second clip, for 15 credits.4

  • A cheaper plan

PRO is $9.99 a month with 2,500 credits — less than the $20 entry plans of Meshy and Tripo.123

  • An API without a subscription

From $0.075 a model, paid from a prepaid balance that never expires — and an MCP server for AI agents.95

It depends on your pipeline. For engine plugins and a large animation library, Meshy and Tripo. For LODs and collision packed per engine, an exact triangle budget and motion from text, Wandy3D. All three have a free start — run the same picture through two of them.

Wandy3D: yes, with a paid plan, a model unlock or the API balance (Terms 4.2); free-plan models are for personal use. Meshy: paid plans own the output; free models are CC BY 4.0 with credit. Tripo: commercial use on paid plans; free models are non-commercial.

They give dense triangle meshes. For a game you set a budget: Wandy3D's Low Poly (300–300,000 triangles) or quad remesh, Tripo's retopology and low poly, Meshy's remesh — then add LODs, which Wandy3D's game-ready pack builds for you.

Per textured model from one image, on October 31, 2026: Wandy 1 $0.075; Tripo's API and fal $0.30; Wandy 1.1 $0.30; Wandy 2 $0.45. Meshy charges 30 credits from a Pro plan's balance.
