AI 3D generators for 3D printing, compared

Wandy3D, Meshy and Tripo can all turn a photo into a model you can print. Here is what each one gives you for free, what a plan costs, what happens to the model before it reaches your slicer and who owns the result — every cell links to the page we read it on.

We make Wandy3D. Where the other tools are better or cheaper, this page says so.

Honestly

Where the others are better

Worth knowing before you choose.

  • Free print files

Meshy (up to 10 Lite models a month) and Tripo (15 exports a month) let you download on their free plans. On Wandy3D the print check is free, but the file needs a plan or a $1.99 unlock.234

  • Lower price per model

Tripo puts a model at about $0.16 on Pro, and Meshy's Pro covers up to 100 assets for $20. A Wandy 2 model costs about $0.60 of PRO credits, Wandy 1 about $0.10.321

  • Split for the build plate

Meshy can split a large model into watertight parts arranged on the build plate and, on paid plans, send it to Bambu Studio in one click. Wandy3D builds one piece and opens it in your slicer through a link.54

  • Commercial use on the free plan

Meshy's free models are CC BY 4.0, so you may sell prints with credit to Meshy. Free-plan models on Wandy3D are for personal use.28

Wandy3D

What Wandy3D does differently

  • A free check before you pay

Every plan, the free one included, gets the print check: a verdict, the real size, material and time estimates, support and the printers it fits — before you spend anything on the file.4

  • Rebuilt, not just checked

The model becomes one closed solid for the printer you chose: holes sealed, hidden hollows filled, thin parts thickened, a stand only when it would tip over.4

  • Resin and colour

A hollow resin shell with drain holes, and 3MF files in 2 to 8 colours for AMS or MMU printers.4

  • One model, no subscription

$1.99 unlocks the files of one model for good; PRO is $9.99 a month with 2,500 credits.1

Other options worth knowing

  • MakerLab by Bambu Lab

On MakerWorld, MakerLab runs several image-to-3D engines for credits: 2 free runs per account, then 24 to 45 credits a run. Credits come in packs — $3 for 350, $8 for 1,000 — and never expire.9

When we checked on October 31, 2026: Meshy (up to 10 Meshy 6 Lite downloads a month, CC BY 4.0) and Tripo (15 exports a month, non-commercial). Wandy3D's print check is free, but the file needs a plan or a $1.99 unlock.

Often not without fixes: a generated surface can have holes, hidden hollows and parts thinner than your nozzle. Wandy3D rebuilds the model into one closed solid and tells you what it changed; Meshy checks and repairs; with other tools you repair it in the slicer or a mesh tool.

Every mainstream slicer reads both. 3MF keeps units and colours — use it for multi-colour prints; STL is the most widely supported single-colour format.

Wandy3D: yes, with a paid plan or a model unlock (Terms 4.2). Meshy: paid plans own the output; free models are CC BY 4.0 with credit. Tripo: commercial use on paid plans; free models are non-commercial.
